THE RAES
"QUE SERA SERA" b/w "ARE YOU THE BOY?"
A & M / CANADA (AM-446) 45 RPM & HARD COVER PICTURE SLEEVE (1977)
*Story line: When still living in Vermont, an FM station in Canada would play this song continuously but never was released as a single in the States. Wrote to A&M Records in Canada and they we kind enough to send me this copy with the picture sleeve. The letter enclosed with the 45 is still tucked inside the sleeve dated December 15, 1977; addressed to me. This is one of the odd situations where I included a foreign release in my collection.
Vinyl shows brand new, played a couple times with the right equipment. Shows no surface scuffs or sleeve webs. Although the letter I received from A&M Records with the 45/SL says it's a promotional copy, it appears to be a stock copy. Labels are clean, untouched and have no graffiti or stickers. Hard cover picture sleeve, which opens from the side, has a strong shine and gloss, some slight corner wear from storage and some graphics just above Robbie's head on the front panel. Has a "19" and a small corner tag on the back panel. A couple minor creases. Overall, Cherrill & Robbie show very strong. The letter from A&M/Canada is included, which in a way, is my C.O.A. of the extremes taken to get a 45 into my collection. I don't believe the sleeve was ever widely distributed in Canada. The 45 was issued in the States as a promo copy.
They did have one minor hit in the States a year later on A & M 2091-S.

The Raes were the Welsh-Canadian husband-and-wife singing duo of Robbie and Cherrill Rae, who had a handful of disco-inflected pop hits in the late 1970s.
